REAL MARYLAND FC OPENS PRE-SEASON ON POSITIVE NOTE ? April 6, 2009 ? Silver Spring, MD ? Real Maryland FC opened up their pre-season this past weekend against George Mason University and the Rochester Rhinos with a win and a draw. ? On Saturday, the Monarch?s defeated GMU 2-0.? The match gave Coach Hudson a good opportunity to look at some trialists who came in to try and fill the last couple of open roster spots.? On Sunday, the team was back in action facing USL 1 side, the Rochester Rhinos.? The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with strong physical play from both sides.? ?Overall, the weekend was positive,? said Coach Hudson.? ?It was nice to get on our home stadium?s pitch against some good competition.? ? Next Friday on April 10th, Real Maryland will head up to Baltimore to face Crystal Palace.? The match will be held in honor of Matt DeOrsey and will be held as a charitable event for the fight against Epilepsy.? The charity event will also serve as the Maryland Cup, in which the two clubs compete for annually. ? The following day, Saturday, April 11th, Real Maryland will host Club Deportivo Aguila in an International Friendly Match at Richard Montgomery High School?s Lester Stadium. ? Club Deportivo ?guila is one of the most popular and most prestigious football clubs in El Salvador. They play among the best teams of Central America, and their greatest achievement has been the CONCACAF Champions' Cup, making them the best club in North America at one point.? ? The game will be played at the home of Real Maryland FC, Richard Montgomery High School?s Lester Stadium on Saturday, April 11th at 5 pm.? For tickets, please contact customer service at . ? ?
