Monarchs look to New Addition against New Opposition

Silver Spring, MD – Real Maryland FC Monarchs will host the Charleston Battery tomorrow night Tuesday, April 27th at Richard Montgomery High School for an early season battle.  Both teams sit at the top of the table after they both went undefeated over the weekend.

The Charleston Battery have moved into the USL Second Division and have started out strong as predicted posting a victory over the Charlotte Eagles in their Season Opener 3-2.  Over the past weekend, the Battery were visited by the Pittsburgh RiverHounds and found that at the end of 90 minutes they had finished in a stalemate 0-0.

The Monarchs opened the 2010 Season at home versus the Riverhounds and found themselves with the same result of 0-0 at the end of the match versus Pittsburgh.  Over the weekend, the Monarchs lifted themselves into an early season first place standing with a 2-0 victory over the City Islanders in Harrisburg, PA Saturday night.

New addition of Israel Sesay will be in the starting line up tomorrow night who is a product of the local soccer scene here in Maryland.

Israel Sesay immigrated from his native Sierra Leone with his family at the age of 11, settling in Gaithersburg, MD.  Sesay, who goes by the nickname Izzy, played for local club team Bethesda Arsenal before joining U.S. Soccer's Residency Program in August 2006.

Sesay went to Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland where he starred as a forward helping to lead the Cougars to the Regional Quarterfinals in 2005. He has played in 14 games with the U.S. national Under-17 team since 2006, appearing in 14 games, making ten starts and collecting three assists.

The Monarchs and Battery post a 1-0-1 record, but due to goals against/goal differential, Real Maryland FC sits atop the table with the Battery eagerly waiting for tomorrow night’s match.  Both teams are looking forward to tomorrow nights early season test.

Come support the Monarchs as they defend their home turf early in the season against the former USL 1 side the Charleston Battery tomorrow night April 27th at Richard Montgomery High School.  At half-time there will be giant hamster ball races courtesy of Games2U and winners will receive gift certificates from the “Official Pizza of Real Maryland FC.”
