Monarchs Recognized by the City of Rockville

Rockville, MD – The Mayor and Council of Rockville have proclaimed April 12 – April 17, 2010 as Real Maryland Soccer Week, and urge all citizens of Rockville to attend Monarch Soccer games during the upcoming season and root them on to victory!

In a ceremony on April 12th at the City of Rockville’s Town Hall Council Member Chamber, the Rockville City Council awarded the three-year old club a tremendous honor

“We have taken great strides to work with the City of Rockville,” says General Manager David Noyes.  “It is important for us to have the City do well.  We have moved the majority of our business to Rockville and it is nice to be recognized for this.”

Real Maryland FC will open up the 2010 Season against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, April 17th at Richard Montgomery High School with a kick off of 6:30 pm.  Last year, both teams split the decision of their matches with each team winning at home by a goal.

The Monarchs look to get off to fast start this season as they see a quick four games by May 1st with three of them being at home on April 17th, 27th and May 1st; the lone road game being at Harrisburg on the 24th of April.

After making the playoffs in just their second season in 2009, 2010 sees a brand new team with a tightened up defense and midfield.  Some of the new players to look out for are new GK Brian Levey, Mason Trafford and Gareth Evans in the back.

Bringing an explosion of skill in the Midfield, fans can look for some great combination play from Nicki Patterson, Ben Hunter, Nate Baker and Alan Sanchez.

The Monarchs will look to bring the attack in numbers this year as Coach Hudson enters his second season with the Real Maryland FC Organization.

“Anthony has a real talent for bringing people together with skill,” says Dave Noyes.  “They not only have the skills with the ball and the game, they have the respect for the game and for the Real Maryland Organization.  When you combine the two, great things can happen.”
