Monarchs to Host BSC “Nights under the Lights”

Silver Spring, MD – Real Maryland FC is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the Bethesda Soccer Club on two nights this season - May 1st and May 22nd.  On May 1st, the Monarchs will take on the USL Second Division’s defending champions the Richmond Kickers.  On May 22nd, the Monarchs will then face the team that knocked them out of the 2009 Playoffs, the Charlotte Eagles.

Both nights are poised to be great showdowns in the early part of the 2010 USL 2 Season.  Join Real Maryland and the Bethesda Soccer Club as they put together two nights of fun and entertainment.  On these two nights, the Bethesda Soccer Club will participate in the pre-game procession, half-time mini games and help out as ball kids.

After the matches, there will be Monarch professional player appearances at Gifford’s Ice Cream & Candy Co.  Both Clubs invite everyone from the area to come and enjoy the festivities, meet the players and to support their local community’s Professional Soccer Club the Real Maryland FC Monarchs.

The Monarchs will open their 2010 quest for the USL 2 Championship on Saturday April 17th versus the Pittsburg Riverhounds.  The two teams split their meetings last season with both winning at home by only one goal each time.

The Bethesda Soccer Club started as three teams in 1979, competing as the Bethesda Boys Club. Today, we have some 40 boys and girls’ teams from ages U-8 through U-19 that compete in various leagues in Maryland and Region I. The club is located in Montgomery County, Maryland, just northwest of Washington, D.C.

Bethesda teams have had a long history of success, from league play to tournaments to cups at the state, regional and national levels. Our teams compete in the USYSA Region I League, the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) and the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS).  Our young teams play in the Olney-Bethesda Soccer League (OBSL), a developmental league that we co-run with the Olney Soccer Club.

Real Maryland FC participates in the Second Division of the United Soccer Leagues.  All 2010 Regular Season Home Games will be played at Lester Stadium at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD.  For more information, please visit realmaryland.us or contact General Manager David Noyes at (301) 933-6460.
