Silver Spring, MD – Head Coach Anthony Hudson and Defender Jonathan Borrajo of the Monarchs Professional Team recently returned from Europe.  Jonathan Borrajo spent his time in Spain were he was invited to train with Real Sporting Gijon.  Before meeting up with Borrajo in Spain, Coach Hudson visited several Premier League, Championship, League 2 and Spanish La Liga Teams.

Both coach and player were recently recognized by the United Soccer Leagues for their contributions to the Professional Team’s successful season that landed them in the Second Division Playoffs.  In his first year as the Head Coach of the Monarchs, Coach Hudson was named as a finalist for the USL Second Division’s 2009 “Coach of the Year.”  In addition to being named to the All League First Team, Borrajo was named as a finalist for the USL Second Division’s 2009 “Defender of the Year.”

The clubs that were in Coach Hudson’s caravan included Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Fulham FC, Real Sporting Gijon, Reading FC, Stoke City FC, Hull City FC, Burnley FC, Port Vale FC and Notts County.  On his travels he spent time with the managers (Head Coaches) and observed the training sessions and matches of both the 1st Team and the Academy Programs.

“I feel very fortunate that these clubs opened their doors to me and Real Maryland FC,” said Coach Hudson.  “This was a very educational experience.”

Coach Hudson is one of the youngest recipients ever to earn the UEFA “A” from the English Football Association.  Starting this month, Coach Hudson will share his formal soccer education, professional playing experience and his recent travels abroad with the Maryland Community.  Real Maryland will begin a coaching seminar series, led by Coach Hudson.  The seminar series will include part discussion format, covering several topics such as Coaching Philosophies, Player Development, Training Sessions and Coach Development.

The series will offer a fantastic opportunity for coaches and parents of all levels to gain the knowledge to give that extra edge to their players.  The coaching series will begin on October 23rd and will be held at the Real Maryland FC Offices located in Silver Spring, MD.  “The Different Styles from the Top Coaches in the Game” will cost $25 per session.  The fee is discounted to $20 if you book your spot before October 15th.  To book your spot, please contact Real Maryland FC at or by calling (301) 933-6460.
