Silver Spring, MD – The Monarchs will play a pair this weekend as they head down to Richmond on Saturday and then turn around and play Harrisburg at home on Sunday. The match against the Harrisburg City Islanders will be played at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD with a start time of 4 pm.

After playing two opponents last weekend and splitting the outcome, Real Maryland FC is prepared for both teams. The Kickers and Islanders sit number two and three in the table. Currently, the Monarchs are on the edge of the playoff bubble in fifth place.

In their previous meeting, Real Maryland FC edged Richmond 1-0 at their home stadium in Rockville, MD. Since then, Richmond has been on a tear going 7-1-1. Their only loss, since being defeated by the Monarchs, has been at the hands of first place Wilmington. Real Maryland FC goes into the University of Richmond Stadium looking to hand the kickers their first home loss of the season.

On Sunday, August 2nd the Monarchs welcome back the Harrisburg City Islanders to Richard Montgomery High School. The teams are no strangers having played twice already this season. In the previous two matches, Harrisburg has outscored Real Maryland FC by a margin of 7-2 taking 6 points from the Monarchs both on the road and at home.

If the Monarchs want to stay in the hunt for the playoffs and keep control of their own destiny, they will need to secure some points from this weekend’s games. After this upcoming weekend, Real Maryland FC will have two regular season games left against Bermuda and Wilmington. The game against Bermuda will take place at Richard Montgomery High School on August 8th. The team will then travel down to Wilmington for the final game of their regular season on Wednesday, August 12th.

The USL 2 Regular Season finishes on August 15th. The Playoffs begin on Wednesday, August 19th with the #4 seed playing the #5 seed. The winner of that match will then play the #1 seed on Saturday, August 22nd in one semi-final match while the #2 and #3 seeds square off in the other semi-final match. The USL 2 Championship is scheduled for Saturday, August 29th and will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel.

Real Maryland FC participates in the Second Division of the United Soccer Leagues.
