Real Maryland FC will host their second International Friendly of 2009 when they take on CSD Municipal at Richard Montgomery High School’s Lester Stadium on Saturday, July 25th at 6:00 pm.

Club Social y Deportivo Municipal, also known as Municipal or Los Rojos (the Reds), are a Guatemalan professional football club based in Guatemala City. They compete in the Liga National, the top division in the nation.

The club was founded in 1936, and as of 2007, they are the team that has remained the most years at the top level in Guatemala, having done so since the inception of the national league in 1942. They are the nation's most successful team, having won the domestic league 26 times; their most recent title came in the 2008 Clausura tournament.

Municipal are the only Guatemalan club ever to win the CONCACAF Champions' Cup, a title they obtained in 1974. Municipal are considered to be the most popular club in Guatemala, and are traditional arch-rivals of club Comunicacioness, who are also located in the capital city.

The Real Maryland FC Monarchs will take a day off from the race for the USL Second Division Playoffs to face the legendary club from Guatemala. This will be the Monarchs second International Match of the season after having already faced El Salvadorian side C.D. Aguila in pre-season. “It is a great opportunity for our players to play against a top quality club,” said Coach Hudson. “All the players are looking forward to the game and to having a good day.”

Real Maryland FC will be busy that weekend as they start off by playing the Charlotte Eagles at 6:00 pm on Friday, July 24th. All children and persons with disabilities receive free admission to the game. On Saturday, July 25th, the Monarchs will then take on CSD Municipal from Guatemala at 6 pm.
