Real Maryland is proud to announce the signing of two players. Brazilian left wing-back Mateus Dos Anjos and American defender Andy Kish are the newest additions to the Real Maryland roster.
Dos Anjos arrives at the club after spending time with numerous clubs on multiple continents.? As a schoolboy in Brazil, Dos Anjos started with his local club Guarani De Divinopolis. He then moved to Europe where he gained valuable experience with Moldovan Premier League side Olimpia FC. In the U.S. Anjos has had stints with several USL clubs including Crystal Palace Baltimore and Miami FC. He most recently trained with the New York Red Bulls during the MLS side?s preseason.?
?I?m really happy to join Real Maryland,? Dos Anjos said upon his arrival. ?I?ve been out of the game for four to five months and I?m really thankful that this club has given me the chance to do what I love to do, and what I do best.?
Having strong ties to the area and coach Silvino Gonzalo, Kish also brings a diverse playing resume to the team. After playing his collegiate soccer at Virginia Commonwealth University, he played under Gonzalo for two seasons with the Northern Virginia Royals. Kish also spent time as a player in the United Kingdom with Welsh side Rhayader Town.
?Playing with Real Maryland is humbling as I thought I was done playing,? said Kish after signing for the Monarchs. ?I?m thankful for the chance Silvino [Gonzalo] has given me and I hope to improve the club.?
Coach Gonzalo has nothing, but praise for the two new signings. He described Dos Anjos as, ?a young player with a lot of experience in the USL. He is a left footed player, and he is a high level player.??
The gaffer knows Kish well from their time together with the Royals, labeling him as, ?a very strong defender with a lot of experience. He reads the game very well, and is an excellent player.?
The two new signings will be looking to fit into the team quickly in a bid to improve the Monarchs? position in the league table.
The expansion side looks to get back to its winning ways when it hosts Cleveland this Saturday at 7:30 PM at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
