Brindley and Zelaya Earn USL-2 Honors

Pair named to the USL-2 Team of the Week

Real Maryland F.C. would like to extend its congratulations to striker William Brindley and goalkeeper Emilio Zelaya for being selected to the USL-2 Team of the Week.

William Brindley earns his spot by virtue of scoring the first ever goal in Real Maryland history in the sixth minute against Pittsburgh. In addition to his goal, Brindley was a constant threat all game. His hard running and skillful distribution caused trouble for the Riverhounds backline all evening.

Emilio Zelaya made a string of impressive saves to preserve the clean sheet against Pittsburgh. In addition to his shot stopping exploits, Zelaya effortlessly commanded his box, taking all early crosses and highballs. The El Salvadorian also orchestrated a well organized defense that didn’t seem disturbed by the fact it had to play the final 15 minutes with ten men.

Real Maryland is on the road this weekend when it travels to Western Mass for a Saturday evening re-match with the Pioneers
