Silver Spring, MD – On Saturday, May 1st the Real Maryland FC Monarchs will take on the defending United Soccer Leagues’ Second Division Champions the Richmond Kickers at Richard Montgomery High School Stadium. Kick off time is slated for 6:30 PM.

With being two of the best professional teams around, the match-up is sure to be fierce and pick up where it left off from the 2009 Season.

The Richmond Kickers come into the match with a record of (0-1-1) and (1) one point on the season. Don’t be fooled by their record, this is a rare start for the power Kickers team that will and can explode at any time, in any game. Richmond’s goal differential is only at -1 and are coming off their first home loss in almost three seasons. To be sure, Richmond will be up for the game on Saturday looking to give Real Maryland FC more than a handful in Rockville, Maryland.

The Real Maryland Monarchs are coming into the match with a record of (1-1-1) and (4) four points on the season landing them in an early second place spot. So far, the Monarchs have played one more game than the Kickers this season. The extra game came earlier this week against the Charleston Battery where the Monarchs suffered their first home loss of 2010 by a score of 1-0 in a great battle. This is the only goal the Monarchs have let in the first three games of the 2010 Season.

With both teams coming off bitter defeats, it will be from the start where they lunge at each other’s throats. Last season, the two teams split their meetings with both winning at home. The Kickers got the last set of points which launched them into the playoffs where they defeated the Charlotte Eagles for the United Soccer Leagues Second Division Crown.

At this point in the season, there is not much separating the two teams except a game in hand and 3 points. Every game and every point is crucial in the short 20 game season. It will be a guarantee that Saturday night’s matchup will bring excitement to the fans at Richard Montgomery High School.
