New Super Y League Team & Coach

 

Silver Spring, MD – Real Maryland FC, a member of the United Soccer Leagues Second Division, is pleased to announce the addition of another Super Y League youth team to the club.  To compliment the club’s new Super Y Teams in the U15’s, U16’s and U17’s, Real Maryland FC will also be fielding a U14 Team.  Matt Pilkington will be the Head Coach for Real Maryland FC’s U14 Boys Super Y League Team.

 

“We are very happy that Matt will be joining Real Maryland,” said General Manager David Noyes.  “Matt has a strong background with coaching in the Super Y League and brings a certain level we expect from our coaching staff.”

Pilkington has the highest badge you can receive as a coach in the United States – USSF “A” Coaching License.  In addition to his formal training as a coach, Matt has experience at the higher youth levels in the United States.  He has coached in the DC United Academy Program and their Super Y League Program.  In addition to coaching with the MLS Giant’s youth programs, Pilkington has experience at the ODP State Level as a staff member of Maryland State ODP and Region 1 ODP.

A native of Manchester, England was a former player and captain at The George Washington University where he received All-Conference and All-Regional honors.  After graduating, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Kixx (MISL) and played for the Richmond Kickers of the USL Second Division.

On the heels of a very successful youth tryout on January 11th, the club expects to announce the next round of tryouts for the Super Y League Teams soon.  Tryouts will most likely be held towards the end of February.  For more information on tryouts, please visit the tryout section at realmaryland.us or contact GM David Noyes at
