Real Maryland (3-12-1) will play its final home game of the season against the Bermuda Hogges (3-9-2) this Wednesday at 8PM at the Maryland SoccerPlex.
The Monarchs have dropped to last place in the USL-2 ladder after succumbing to two heavy away losses at the hands of North Carolina opposition last weekend.
The team?s woes began on the road with a 5-2 defeat to Wilmington. The Hammerheads took an early two goal lead in less than six minutes but strikes by Ronald Cerritos and William Brindley soon evened up proceedings for the visitors. The hosts retook the lead in first-half injury time and clinched the game with two further goals in the second-half.
Real Maryland?s anguish continued merely 24 hours when it was outclassed 8-0 by league leaders Charlotte.
Bermuda currently sits one spot above the Monarchs in 9th position after going down 2-0 away to Pittsburgh on the weekend. A goal in each half by Tabiso Khumalo was all that was needed for the Riverhounds to leave the Caribbean side winless in five matches. The Hogges will be aiming to amend its current slump in form come Wednesday night with a win over Real Maryland.
?After some tough games away, I really feel that the team will regroup well at home and come out of this game with the win,? remarks assistant first team and Super 20s coach Roger Fernandez confidently.
The teams are no strangers to each other, having fought to a 0-0 standstill merely a fortnight ago in Bermuda. The Monarchs have the advantage of playing at home this time around and intend to conclude its campaign at the Maryland SoccerPlex with a victory over the island nation.
Supporters are encouraged to come out in numbers for this tightly contested match and send their team out in style.
