2007 USL-2 PLAYOFFS AND CHAMPIONSHIP
THE PLAYOFF FIELD
1 – The
Richmond Kickers return to the playoffs as the defending league champion, looking for a third straight USL Second Division championship appearance (2006, 1996). The 1995 PDL champions have reached a final five times, falling in the USL-1 championship game in penalties and overtime. They are 4-2-1 in their previous two USL-2 postseason campaigns.
2 – The expansion
Cleveland City Stars will be making their playoff debut. They became the fourth team to finish with a one-loss record (10-1-9) in the history of the USL Second Division. No team has ever finished unbeaten.
3 – The
Harrisburg City Islanders are in the playoffs for the third time in their four-year existence after missing the postseason for the first time last year. They are 1-3-0 in the USL Second Division playoffs.
4 – The
Charlotte Eagles return to the postseason for the fourth straight season and have yet to miss the playoffs in their 10 years at the USL Second Division level. The 2005 and 2000 USL2 Champions are 21-8-3 in the playoffs, reaching the final six times. They have played in four consecutive USL-2 championships (2006, 2005, 2004, 2000)
