Real Maryland FC’s Jaime Montgomery Continues to Prep for USL’s SYL National Tournament

First freshman ever to receive the PVAC HS League POY

Jaime was also awarded First Team All – Conference and Team MVP

Silver Spring, MD. – Jaime Montgomery of the Real Maryland FC U14 SYL Team continues to work towards the United Soccer League’s Super Y League North American Finals in December while picking up some accolades for outstanding High School play along the way as a freshman at Covenant Life School located in Gaithersburg, MD.

While the Monarch Teams meet during the fall season once a week or so, most players are also playing on their High School Varsity Teams.  This year, the Real Maryland U14 Girls Team had every freshman member of the Monarch’s team make their Varsity Teams at their respective High Schools.

The RMFC SYL U14 Girls team, led by coach by Brett Menge, has qualified for the USL’s Super Y League’s North American National Championships for the second year in a row.

One of the many talented players leading the way is Jaime Montgomery who just finished her first year on the Girls Varsity Soccer Program at Covenant Life School. The Girls Varsity Soccer Program is coached by Robert Rashford where the squad is a member of the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference.  The PVAC is made up of 14 private schools in the Washington DC Metro Area.

Covenant Life School fell just shy of a conference title, but not before Jaime Montgomery brought the game to within 1 goal when she scored in the 67th minute of the Championship Match.  As the game battled on, Washington International School was able to hold off CLS to grab their second title in a row.

Jaime may not have won the Conference Championship with her teammates, but she was able to do what no other freshman in Potomac Valley Athletic Conference has ever done before.   Ms. Montgomery picked up the PVAC Player of the Year honor.  In addition to this achievement, she was named to the PVAC First Team All – Conference and voted CLS’s Team MVP by her fellow teammates.

In 1992, Covenant Life School began an athletics program for students in middle school. As our school and program grew, we joined the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference (PVAC) in 1997. Over a dozen years later, they field about 20 athletic teams and coach over 250 students in middle school and high school. Athletics has been a valued part of the school and the community.

The 2011 Super Y-League North American Finals presented by Umbro - one of the top college recruiting events in the country – is set for December 2-6 in Tampa, Florida. This year’s event will see the first day of matches begin on Friday, December 2nd, and the Championship matches scheduled for Tuesday, December 6th.

Real Maryland FC will offer tryouts for teams in both the boys and girls divisions from ages U13-U17 for 2012.  The tryouts will take place at Richard Montgomery High School Stadium Field in Rockville, MD in December.  Please visit realmaryland.us to register online.
