Real Maryland Appoints New Head Coach

Real Maryland has appointed Antonio Carlos Vieira as the club’s new head coach for the remainder of the 2008 season.

The Brazilian has an extensive career as a both a player and a coach. As a player, Vieira played with teams in Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, and in his native Brazil.

Vieira started coaching in 1989 with amateur team Botafogo in Brazil. He became a professional coach in 1990 with Juventus F.C in the Ecuadorian first division. Since then Vieira’s coaching exploits have taken him to Venezuela, Peru, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize.

Vieira and his new players must acclimate to each other quickly as the Monarchs take to the field under their new head coach tomorrow night for a match against the Bermuda Hogges at 8:00 PM at the Maryland SoccerPlex. This is Real Maryland’s final home game of the year. After Wednesday night, the Monarchs will conclude their season with a three game road trip.
