As Real Maryland Monarch’s kick off their second season in the USL, we hope to form the first 2009 Monarch Dance Team!

The mission of the Monarch Dance Team is to entertain, inspire, and provide support and spirit for the players as well as the Monarch fans through out the season’s home games and perhaps some additional appearances at promotional events. The dance team would practice from approximately mid-April through mid-August.

We are looking for approximately 8-10 members. Dancers must be over 18 years of age (graduating high school seniors, college students, and professional dancers are welcome).

The 2009 tryouts will be held April 5th at Richard Montgomery High School from 4-9 pm. Registration will begin at 4:00 pm and go until 4:45 pm.

Audition forms and papers will be posted on the website and will also be available at the tryout. Bring forms completed to audition along with a non-refundable $25 audition fee and head shot.

The tryout will consist of a short jazz and hip-hop combination, a pom/cheer sideline, and interview. We will also be doing across the floor technique. Skills/Technique we would like dancers to have are right/left splits, Toe Touch, right/left double pirouettes, right/left grande battement/kicks, right/left straight leaps, center leap, and calypso. Additional bonus skills that may be shown are fouettes, triple pirouette, leg hold/extension, turning c-jump, and switch leaps. Please wear hair and make-up performance ready (hair should be down or half pulled back), black jazz pants, a crop top, and jazz shoes or sneakers.
