Monarchs Hold Successful “Locals Only” Tryout

Despite Weather

Silver Spring, MD — After, four days of heavy rain and with the cancellations of most other soccer activities in the Greater Maryland Area, Real Maryland FC hosted it’s annual “Locals Only” Tryout to kickoff it’s search for the 2010 Team.

The Monarchs are proud of their successful 2009 Campaign with the Professional Team making the USL Second Division’s Playoffs.  In addition to the Professional Team doing well, the Real Maryland FC Super Y League Program was ranked #5 overall this past season as well.  It was the first year for four out of the five Super Y League Programs in 2009.

Through driving rain, wind and cold, local players from Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC persevered in hopes of making it to the next tryout.  The next tryout will be opened up to National and International Participants in either November or December with the idea to hold a combine with a partner club of Real Maryland FC.

“I was happy to stand in the rain and watch local players battle for a spot on the team,” said General Manager David Noyes.  “We believe that the talent in this area is as good or if not better than most other parts in the world.”

On the last day of the United Soccer Leagues 2009 Season, where Montreal lifted the “USL Cup” of the United Soccer Leagues First Division, Real Maryland FC got started with their 2010 quest.

“We wanted to get things up and running early this season,” said Noyes.  “You do not become a strong club like Montreal, Charleston or Rochester by sitting around and waiting.  Those organizations have always worked hard and it has shown with their success.  Real Maryland FC is interested in being the best Professional representative for our area.”

The Monarchs will continue its tryouts next on Sunday, November 8th when they host an all day tryout at Richard Montgomery High School.  There will be a new addition to the Monarch SYL Family in 2010 with the launch of its U13 Boys SYL Team.  This will complete the pyramid on the boy’s side of the club in only its third year of operation.

Real Maryland FC participates in the Second Division of the United Soccer Leagues.  All 2009 Regular Season Home Games will be played at Lester Stadium at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD.  For more information, please visit realmaryland.us or contact General Manager David Noyes at (301) 933-6460.
