Silver Spring, MD- Real Maryland FC, coming off a home opener victory, will take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds this Saturday, May 2nd. The two will face off at Chartiers Valley High School Stadium at 7 pm.
The Monarchs travel to Pittsburgh already with 3 points, after battling Bermuda to a 3-2 final over the weekend. Captain Jeff Carroll and fellow midfielder Tom Taylor plan to continue their good form and mark more points for Real on Saturday. Coach Anthony Hudson was impressed with his team's start to the campaign. "It was important that we got the win,? said Coach Hudson.? ?This weekend will be a good test for us, Pittsburgh is a strong team."
Pittsburgh enters Saturday?s match having drawn in their two previous matches. If the Riverhounds want to mark one in the win column, they'll have to do so without defender Chris Riley, who will be serving suspension after he was sent off in the second half of last week?s game. Randolph Jerome, who is the only goal scorer for the Riverhounds, will hope to raise his tally over the weekend against a tough Monarch defense.
The two teams bring different mentalities to the field, and it will surely be a tug of war type of match, where the Monarchs will put their high octane attack against Pittsburgh solid defense.
Real Maryland FC participates in the Second Division of the United Soccer Leagues.? All 2009 Regular Season Home Games will be played at Lester Stadium at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD.?
