Silver Spring, MD – Real Maryland FC is proud to honor their Super Y League U-17 Team with special recognition at this weekend’s home professional match between the Real Maryland FC Monarchs and the Harrisburg City Islanders. The match will be held on Sunday, May 31st at Lester Stadium of Richard Montgomery High School with a start of time of 4 pm.

The Monarch’s U-17 Super Y League Team, coached by Roger Fernandez made a strong run at the Richmond Kickers’ Memorial Day Weekend College Showcase this past weekend. The U-17’s played in the High School Bracket in what is traditionally known as the Anthem Colonial Cup which supports the fight against Childhood Cancer. The bracket contained teams from the age groups of both the U-17 and U-19 categories.

Real Maryland FC U-17’s went on a great run through the tournament where they captured the trophy scoring 12 goals and not allowing a single goal against the entire tournament. They had to get past some tough teams stemming from Williamsburg, VA Legacy and the home club, the Richmond Kickers along the way to the Cup.

“I am proud of the team,” said coach Fernandez. “The Kickers Organization put on a great tournament and were gracious hosts.” Leading the way for the U-17’s was MVP Geovanny Maldonado. The Real Maryland FC U-17 Super Y League team will play at their next showcase in July where they will travel down to Orlando, Florida for the “Nations Cup.”

Coach Fernandez and the U-17 Team will be honored at this weekend’s professional match. The Club will proudly display the trophy at the match during the festivities of Fiesta Real.
