Midfielder Dennis Alas was selected to the USL-2 Team of the Week for his performance in Real Maryland?s 2-1 win over the Wilmington Hammerheads last Saturday.
Following his USL-2 Player of the Week award last week, Alas once again played a major role in Real Maryland?s come from behind victory by scoring the game tying goal just before half time (his third goal in two games).
In addition, Alas ran the midfield with his precise distribution. Every Monarch attack went through the Salvadorian who put the ball right on the foot of a teammate every time he released the ball.
As Alas continues to pile up the accolades, the Real Maryland coaching staff begins to ponder how they will cope without their midfield general for most of June. Alas has been selected to represent El Salvador in the home and home series against Panama in the second round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying.
